We need to change the laws of Security
Guardianship Security takes pride in knowing laws that help us protect the communities we serve. With increased crime and law enforcement challenges more and more people are turning to private security. The problems we face would be resolved if we had better laws. Here are some of the laws I would want to see changed If anyone would listen.
Denver requires a Denver Security Guard Card. I understand the need for oversite, but very few cities require a guard to have a license, so this opens up non-compliance within Denver and it creates unfair practices. Typically, the guard is an entry-level position the cost to have a Denver guard card, along with other cities, makes it difficult for struggling guard. It doesn’t help the owner of the company in making sure shifts are filled. I think ONE State license should be created.
I also would like to change the laws of detaining someone vs arresting someone, do you know the difference in Colorado? It presents real challenges to detain someone you caught committing a crime, because it leaves a lot of discretion for police to be complacent and not follow through with the arrest. We deal with crimes on a daily basis, and rarely do we get support from Police.
